Hi Tom,

I would go ahead and post this to the 590 group. Although I think your best
choice at this time is to go buy a cheap XP laptop somewhere and just get
back on the air. Or, borrow one from a friend so you can get your radio
working again. Then, you can be having fun while you are figuring out the
problem.

Good luck and very 73.

Subject: continuing frustration with ARCP590 software and new Windows 7
laptop

Hi, folks.

Well, a sighted ham friend of mine just left here, after spending roughly
two hours trying to get the ARCP590 software working with my new Windows 7
laptop.

The program seems to be there, but will not start.

As far as we can tell, the virtual comm port u s b driver software is
installed and is working.

We have menu 61 in the TS590 set at 9600 baud, menu 62 set at 9600 baud, and

menu 63 set at U S B.

What we have concluded is that there seems to be some sort of
incompatibility or conflict between the laptop and the TS590.

In addition to the ARCP590 software not starting, there are two other things

making us come to this conclusion:

1. There is an "unknown device" that keeps showing up even after attempts
to uninstall it. Our theory is that the unknown device is the TS590
itself.

and

2. Whenever we plug my USB cable into the computer, Jaws goes away.

If anyone has any suggestions as to what we may try to resolve this
incompatibility so that the ARCP590 software starts properly, please let me
know.

I've considered posting this quiry to the TS590 list, but figure it'd be
best to start here.
