that's a pretty unusual problem to have the sensativity just fail like that 
on the whole radio.
I wonder what the issue is.
with a signal that strong, you could almost hear it without an antenna 
hooked up if the radio was functioning normally...but there must be a common 
circuit in the receiver before it mixes to the different frequency ranges 
that malfunctioned.
Assuming your S-meter squelch didn't get set to high or something lol.
