Hi Mike,
I'm not familiar with the data mode setting on your rig. If this mode
would let you send something like psk via the soundcard, then it should
work for AFSK RTTY. If you can narrow the filter more than the
normalSSB setting, so much the better.
If you decide to try JAWS, do the insert-S command until you hear "all"
and all incoming text will be read. Or use the JAWS cursor.
yes I use Writelog for my contest logging and also RTTY and CW transmit.
I've been using it for almost 10 years and have around 25K QSO's in
the log, but I always find it hard to reccomend without a warning. It
can be a real hair puller to get set up, even for sighted hams.
Writelog also has it's own RTTY decoder, but MMTTY just works better for
me.
Sorry I won't be able to meet up with you on the air. While I've got
over 100 countries in the log on RTTY, things have not been right since
a pc crash last year. I'm going to have to rebuild the whole RTTY
setup from the ground up, and need to see which of the 2 computers, 2
rigs, 2 interfaces work best. Also which version of JAWS and MMTTY can
get me back where I was before.
Good luck, it's a fun mode and if you can make it work and keep your
hair, you will enjoy it.
