In the rural BC region where I lived in the '70s, they were called "The
Zucchini Hippies". They would come out from the city and plant their first
gardens and be so excited when the zucchinis showed up by the many dozens
since they had planted way too many seeds, that they would take bags of the
things to all their new (old resident) neighbours as peace offerings,
wanting to share the bounty with all. Good hearts. Naive minds.

The mid 60's to early 70's rural newcomer social life was the best period I
have ever lived, without question. Indeed, heavenly, mostly.
Darn, Ruth, I am really sorry I did not come to visit when I was in
Burlington years ago. To my then young BP ears, you sounded so professional
in your posts about Vermont stone and quarries that I was totally
intimidated and though you would not want to trifle with a wood guy. Dumb
Dumb!
Cheers,
