Mike,
I know there is a different Jaws key on laptops, other than the insert
key , but sorry i don't know what it is. On a desktop keyboard, the
jaws key and the num pad plus and minus keys moves you between the
different cursors, and the jaws key and the num pad "slash" key is
left mouse, while the jaws key and the num pad "star" key are for right
mouse button.
If you are getting gibberish, you need to tune very slowly until you
start to hear something that makes sense. If you are lucky, jaws will
speak whole words, otherwise it will spell letter by letter. Gibberish
can also come from too much drive to the sound card. You can control
this by adjusting output from the rig to the sound card, or by
adjusting the input knob on your Signal Link. Try turning this down
all the way and then turn it up just enough till it starts speaking,
then turn the vfo to try and tune it in.
I have also heard it say "fig" anytime a number was printing, but
somehow I got it to stop.
You may also want to go under the file menu in MMTTY, under "options of
receive log" and uncheck the item "show time stamp in rx window". You
don't need that info showing in the rx window and getting spoken by jaws.
