Ed if memory serves me correctly the k2 was a qrp rig versus the 590 which 
is a 100 watt rig.  I can't recall if the k2 comes with the 100 watt 
amplifier or whether it now is included.  I think you can compare receiving 
characteristics of the two radios  side by side but not the transmitting 
characteristics unless they're both 100 watts. 73- pat kk3f
