Hi to all.
Lisa:
You did not say if you turned your computer off in the evening, and if so, what time you turned it back on. The scheduled scans don't automatically run if the computer is turned off. That said, for the record, I do most of my scans manually through the program--that way I'm in control of when they occur, and I can read the results.
Now, reading and using Microsoft Security Essentials is relatively easy using JAWS (I don't know which screenreading software you are using, but that is mine), but you occasionally have to go into the JAWS cursor to read such things as results. When you enter Microsoft Security Essentials, tab down until you hear "Home Button". Then, using your left and right arrows, you can move across the different area headings (such as the scanning schedule, updating the software, etc.). You then can tab through each heading to view the options under it. Manual scanning is under the "Home buttn", and, if I were you, I would do that, checking the radio button that says "Full Scan". When you do a manual scan, no matter if it's a custom, quick, or full, MSE will update itself before the scan actually starts. When you have completed the full scan, if you're using JAWS, you can read the results only with the JAWS cursor.
The other thing I'd check is under the "Scan Schedule" heading. You want to make sure that MSE is automatically checking your computer as you download information from websites to insure that viruses are not coming with that information. The default position is "Automatically Scan", but it may be that for some reason that feature was turned off. Make sure to check that box.
Hope this helps and good luck.

Hi all,
I found that my computer has a worm and now I have to try to get rid of it. I did forget to say in my first message that I have windows xp.
I wanted to know though something about microsoft security essentials. That is what I have on my computer for antivirus, but I have some issues if anyone can help.
First, often times when you open security essentials it says you are unprotected and you haven't run a scan in a while and you might be at risk. I have the scan schedule set to scan on Sunday mornings at 8 am though so I don't understand that.
Secondly, I don't see any option in security essentials where you can go to look at your scanning results. Even if you have the program open while you are scanning it doesn't tell you whether or not it found any problems.
At least avg did that and so maybe I should go back to that.
If any one can help with these security essentials questions I would appreciate it. Thanks very much.
Lisa
