Newly assembled System includes the following:
Motherboard: EPOX EP-51MVP3E-M Super7 AGP
CPU: AMD K6 300 MHZ with MMX
RAM: 128 MB (100 MHZ)SDRAM
Graphics Card: STB Velocity 4MB 128 AGP (nVidia)
Sound Card: ENSONIQ AUDIO PCI
Speaker System: CAMBRIDGE SOUNDWORKS SPEAKER SYSTEM
CD-ROM DRIVE: TOSHIBA 32X
Other Components: AverMedia FM/TV-Phone Tuner Card
Operating System is Windows 98 4. 10.1702
Browsers: Micosoft IE4.01 (no Active Desktop enabled) and Netscape Comm.
4.05 (Professional Edition). I also have QuickTime 3.0 installed.
Ever since building and getting this system to work I've been having
distorted output when playing or accessing web sites with .MID and .WAV
sound files. No ammount of HD reformating and reinstallation of Windows 98
will correct this problem! I"ve even taken the system apart and reassembled
it but the problem still persists!
Reproduction of sound and music from CDs and from FM and TV is superb.
All other installed programs run flawlessly.
I've got no help from Microsoft's KB or from ENSONIQ'S web site, and I can't
figure out why only the .mid and .wav sound reproduction aspect of this
system should constitute the problem.
The problem is not browser dependent as it occurs in both IE and NS.
Any suggestions as to the possible causes of this anomaly and the likely
solutions will be highly appreciated.
