I was running an FIC-PA2007 motherboard with an AMD K6-233
CPU, & getting a RAM write speed of over 400 Mb/sec.
Leaving evrything else un-changed & just changing the CPU
(to the AMD K6-300) I now get a RAM write speed of only 60
Mb/sec.
Most other performance parameters (including RAM read) show
the expected increase.

On 'boot' the BIOS detects the chip as an 80486-DX @
66mhz - is it likely that this 'mis-identification' is the
cause of the problem.

Do I need a BIOS upgrade ?
