I won't add to all that has already been said beyond assuring you that you 
will certainly be able to use skype on a netbook.  I regularly do so.

Thanks for your wonderful comparison. I would love something with a long
battery life, but would like to be able to use Skype. I am totally blind
and do not care about a small screen. Sounds like I'm torn between the two!
