I just made the switch from XP to Windows 7 64 bit.   The Kenwood 
software for the TS-2000 and TS-480 both installed  and seem to work ok. 
  Same for the free XMlog logging  software.  Sorry, I don't have the 
other rig you mentioned.

I'm running a 4 port USB to serial converter and all was well until I 
put the amp on.   The logger locked up and gave me a message that the 
port couldn't be found.   I replaced the USB cable going from the USB 
hub to the 4 port box with a cable that has ferrites molded on each end 
( from an old Epson scanner) and problem solved.
