Hi all,
On another list, we were discussing DRM protected ebooks, and someone
directed us to this site, which he regularly uses:
http://ebook.online-convert.com/
He uses the site to convert the files to pdf. DRM is automatically
removed during the conversion process, so he is able to read the books
on his computer. The site is accessible and covers a number of popular
formats. Unfortunately, it doesn't include the newest Kindle format, but
it does work with the previous one. So far, he says, he hasn't had any
problems with any of the files he's tried to convert and access.
I haven't experimented with the site myself, and I don't know if the
same drm stripping process happens when you convert to other formats,
like ePub, which you may be able to access with your smart phones.
Just passing the tip along.
Ciao
