Mike,
If you bring up the Properties dialog for the hard drive and then
CONTROL+TAB to the Tools tab you should find the button to begin
defragmentation. I am running XP SP3, so that should work for you.
Cheers,
Duane

Subject: [VICUG-L] DeFrag -- Where is it?
I'm restoring an old XP Service Pack 3 machine and wanted to run defrag on
it. Well, it wasn't in the systems tools menu nor, when the def\rag
command was iisued, it wouldn't run.
So I am guessing that somehow it at some point was deleted.
I looked on another XP machine but couldn't find it anywhere in the
c:\windows or c:\windows\system32 folders.
Can anyone tell me where it is, what is it called, or alternatively where
I might download it from.
In Googling this, I come up with all sorts of 3rd party add-ons, but what
I want at this point is the real mccoy, ie, the defrag tool from
microsoft.
