Un-hiding the contacts Dat file

Hello experts,
I have a new computer with windows 7 with Office 2010.  I am trying to
unhide the Contacts dat file.  I have copies of the user files from the old
computers.  I can find the old dat files there, but I haven't been able to
unhide the file where it needs to be put on this computer, so I can utilize
it.
I would greatly appreciate any insight that one of you might have.
