Yes, I'm using thunderbird right now. I switched to it on Windows a few
years ago. I left Lotus Notes and started using Thunderbird, so I've
never been an Outlook Express/Outlook/Windows Mail/Windows Live Mail
user. Now that I use Linux almost exclusively, Thunderbird is pretty
much the only email client I use anymore. I actually like using
Thunderbird on Linux with Orca more than I do using it on Windows with JAWS.
It does things a bit differently than the Outlook Express family of
email clients, but I find it all pretty much accessible. Somethings it
does differently are better and some probably aren't. Lightning, the
calendar plug in, isn't as nice to use, but if you're patient, you can
put up with it.
I'd suggest giving it a try, reading some tutorials on it, playing
around with it and asking some questions on specifics when you've got them.
Jamal Mazrui (who's name I'm probably misspelling) also has a pretty
comprehensive set of JFW scripts for Thunderbird. You may want to give
them a try as well.
