Hi Becky,
System Backup and Restore is somewhat confusingly different from a
file backup. The former backs up system settings and such like.
In Vista, go to Start: All Programs, Accessories, System Tools: Backup
Status and Configuration. All being well, you should now have a
dialog appear called, "Backup Status and Configuration".
The first thing you need to do is select, "Set up automatic file
backup". Here you will need to point to a backup device - which can
NOT be your c:\ drive. In fact, I'm not too sure if it even allows
you to backup to partitions which are on the same physical drive. I
have a separate d:\ drive and tend to back up to that.
Can you get that far? If so, I'll try to take you to the next stage.
George.
