The camera scan option works, but it's not nearly as quick or as
foolproof as a good scanner. USB flatbed scanners can be had cheaply
and in most cases one is as good as another (unless buying an HP, for
some reason they're all reasonably awful anymore!)
If you're looking for a scanner with a document feeder, I highly
recommend Fujitsu. I've become quite familiar with the attention to
detail and to end-user maintenance in their products through their
ScanSnap document-fed scanners.
These days most people have a scanner built in to their printer.
