That sounds cool!  I heard a vk4 last week on 40 meters, working remotely 
through a w3 station on 40 meter phone.
I would think their would be a lot more of this remote base stuff going on 
than their is.
You could get 20 guys to pool resources, set up a station, anywhere, and 
operate it from their cars or apartments.  Say put the station in Bonaire 
for example!
