Hi all:

I purchased a 102 foot G5RV from Radio World in toronto a couple of months ago as a commercial replacement for my home brewed windom.
I haven't got it installed yet as the weather hasn't cooperated with the times I could go out to the remote site. Plus need to drop my tower for some maintenance and the couple of folks who help me with that haven't been available.
I'm wondering if its an absolute that I'll require an external antenna tuner for this antenna? .
My Yaesu FT-450 had no trouble tuning the windom from 80/10. I have the G5RV that's fed with ladder line, transformer, then coax.
I'm thinking that this transformer is supposed to help with this. Should I consider winding an additional RF choak or something should the tuner in my rig has difficulties?
The buck has kind of stopped on my ham radio expenditures as my station, remote components included has kind exceeded the 2KCAN mark! LOL and the XYL has basically said, my agreement of course, I think its enough! LOL
So, if the rig doesn't tune this antenna, then I could be forced to try and trade some components to allow the remote rig system work with my back up rig.
The backup rig had no problems in tuning the windom either. It even tuned on 30 and 12M where my Yeasu could not.
