    Oh really, Steve!!!  Well, that's good to know!

May not be worth all of the trouble then.
It sounded cool when I heard about it, but if the ID potentially can 
transmit over someone else who might be talking at the time, that could be a 
real drawback.

Thanks for this info!

If I do decide to give it a try, at least I know I'll have to do the ID 
programming via the software.

Tom,

You'll have to enter your call via the software, but I think you'll find
that this function is a disappointment even though it sounds pretty cool.
The problem is that the ID is broadcast regardless of what else is
happening, which means that if someone else is transmitting, your radio will
key up and transmit over them.  I tried this feature for a while, but
eventually disabled it because of the way it worked.
