I don't know if it's like IDAS/Nextedge or not, which will replace DStar at
some point, but those radios, as long as you program the info in with the
software, we can use it. basically, you'd have channel, 1 with the IDAS
repeater in it, channel 2 with a conventional repeater in it, other than the
digital audio which some people don't notice with IDAS but I sure do, you'd
never know the difference. I believe it will say on the display who's
transmitting, we get no feedback there, but we could use those radios if we
wanted. Me, I'm not spending that kind of money on a band I don't even get
on but have played with friends' radios on IDAS, I really don't know anyone
in to DSTAR and since it's so much more expensive I can say I'm never going
to be on there with my own equipment.
