From my reading of the manual, once voice guide is turned on, you can press a button to have the current frequency read. Also, it will tell you if the room is bugged. LOL! This receiver receives SSB and CW. The Icom R20, which appears to have similar features, is $500 or so; the less expensive Icoms and Alincos with full coverage receive that don't receive SSB and CW are cheaper. But they don't receive SSB or CW. I think the VR500 from Yaesu might be cheaper, and it also receives SSB and CW, but no voice guide at all.
