Like John said, you can do well price wise if you go used. But like
everything else used in this hobby: caveat amateur.
Some brands to look for: Ameritron, MFJ, Palstar, and Ten-Tec. I think
Tom recently picked up a Ten-Tec to use with his amp. In the shack here I
currently have a Palstar manual and a MFJ 998 auto tuner.
