Tom,

I've upgraded other Kenwood radios, and have never had to reprogram the 
voice chip, which makes sense since you don't have to program it in the 
first place.  Regarding resets, I have found that I could get away with not 
doing a full reset, which means, of course, that all my settings remained 
intact.  I would say that the only reason for doing a full reset is if the 
radio comes up working incorrectly after the upgrade, in which case you 
really don't have a choice.
