Walt,
It could well be that after five years you are ready for a new 
batttery.  On the other hand, I believe that there is a small fuse 
inside of the handheld, that if it blows, the pack will not 
charge.  I'm not 100% on that but seem to recall . . .
Do you know of someone who could put your pack in their THF6 and 
attempt to charge it?  Or perhaps it is time for an after market 
battery pack from Batteries America, W & W or a few other sources.
