Went to BJ's Brewhouse at Oakridge Mall in San Jose, CA for dinner on Friday night. Couldn't wait to try the new g-f chocolate chip pizookie. It was delicious! However, I must say that it is very, very sweet. It's a perfect dessert for two people to share.
I talked with the manager of this BJ's and he said they take extreme measures when preparing g-f food, including changing their gloves constantly. As a side note, I mentioned to him that it would be great if they had a few low-sodium meals added to the menu as well. BJ's menu items, like most chain restaurant menu items, are extremely high in sodium. It's been a challenge over the years for me to eat out g-f, and now it is a medical necessity that my husband eat only low-sodium foods (and no salads). We are now, indeed, a tricky couple to cater to when eating out! :)
In this Sunday's (8/7) supplement to the San Jose Mercury News, BJ's Brewhouse has a color advertisement stating Gluten Free Party for Two $19.95! For this price you get two house salads or two Caesar salads or two wedge salads, split a g-f pizza AND split a g-f chocolate chip pizooki! (You can add a handcrafted root beer for $2.95 each.) It's a super deal all the way around, plus the fact that a gluten-free deal is being widely advertised by a restaurant!
Enjoy!
Sue
