Subject: Re: [VICUG-L] stay away from IE 9!

Hi.

I installed IE 9 a while ago, and I ran into a lot of problems on my Windows 64 bit home laptop running the latest version of JAWS. Thankfully I could restore to when it wasn’t installed. A couple days ago I saw that Windows had some new updates. Internet Explorer, of course, was one of these. I decided to give IE 9 one more chance. This time things went off without a hitch. The browser is a bit different, but once you understand how it works it’s pretty nice. Downloading a file is probably the main confusing point. When you click on a link to download, the information bar is accessed with ALT+N, and you can either open or save the file. If you save it the file goes into a default location. To change this location, while in IE hit CTRL+J to bring up the download manager, and hit the options link. The manager lists all the files you’ve downloaded. You can clear this with the click of a button. Since I’ve changed where IE 9 downloads my files I’m completely satisfied with its performance. There may be other issues with it, but it’s doing all I used to do with IE 8 with no problem.

Hope this is useful.
