You can get an external wireless module which connects to your computer via
USB. With this solution, you don't need to worry about opening up the
computer to install a card; not that that's any big deal, but it's a moot
deal if you don't have an empty card slot.

unfortunately, it doesn't have any spare card slots, so I really need
something external if possible.

Yes you should be able to get a wireless card to fit your system.

Subject: [VICUG-L] can I add wireless to a desktop computer?
hello list,
I would like to know, if I can add wireless networking, to a desktop
computer, as I have a computer in another room, and don't really want the
aggravation of running a long network cable to it if possible. but, being a
desktop machine, it does not have built in wireless networking already, so
what do I need to get, to give it wireless capability?
