Thanks Ron,

I basically had to remind the doctor that I thought my circulating triglycerides were impressive, and that the ratio of total cholesteral divided by  HDL was more meaningful, (my ration being 2.94%).  I'm not as worried about my cholesterol, but to be  honest, I was really making sure to eat more saturated fat for a few days prior  to having my blood drawn , just to  beable to spit in the medical eye and prove that low carb paleo would render (no pun intended) great lipid profiles.  SO, I'm a bit disappointed in such a high LDL number.  Maybe I overdid the fatty lamb,  eggs , lard with my greens, and one raw  date sweetened chocolate square  the night before.  There was a time where my HDL topped 100,  but I was eating way more fish back then.  Who can afford it now???

I'm glad you got your bones on track.  My calcium supplement contains magnesium, K-2, and highly absorbable calcium.  I'm going to run all this by a most excellent naturopath who totally supports paleo,  I just wanted to throw myself to the list here, and see  what came back.  Now, as far as fast cars and chasing  younger men, I'm afraid that as a sheep farmer, the only thing that excites me lately  is a good price per pound on  our  grassfed lamb.....
Thanks for your great reply!

Hi Batsheva,
I'm not overly familiar with US units for cholesterol but my reading is that
you have borderline high total cholesterol with a very favorable ratio.
However, cholesterol readings are usually pretty meaningless without a
breakdown of LDL into sub-classes. Your triglycerides look absolutely great,
so I would bet a lot of money that your LDL sub-fractions would also be
very, very good.

I had low bone density when I was about 50. Based on some research specific
to people with celiac disease, I started supplementing with magnesium and it
helped so much that my physician insisted that my bones could not have
improved by that much. He was sure that there was an error, they had changed
the machine, or something else was going on. I knew that I no longer felt
bone pain and decided to ignore my doc.

I'm a do-it-yourselfer with celiac disease and long standing COPD.

Also, mid-life crises should be more enjoyable and involve sports cars and
sexual encounters with younger partners. Why are you wasting yours on
medical testing? :-)

Best Wishes,
Ron
