Well, thanks to your help, I finally have the "in line" volume control from
Radio Shack for the Motorola amplified speaker for my HF set-up.

I went to the store, and gave them the product number. They seemed
genuinely surprised that it was in the catalog, and actually in their store!
(go figure! (grin)

amplified speaker

Hi tom,

Well, I may have what you want. This control is an inline volume
control with the usual stereo plug on one end and a stereo jack on the
other. The whole thing is less than a foot long and you put it between
the device and the speakers. It has a small pot with a thumbwheel for
adjusting the control. I believe it cost around $7 or so.

The radio shack catalog number I have is:

42-2559 and last time I ordered it, it was only available online or via
their toll free phone.

Hope it's still around as it can be a handy device.

I've had mine for a couple of years, so can't vouch for it's availability.
