That is the order of the day in Gambia since the military took over power. Even the president can't count anymore the number of people (civilians and military personnel) he has fired...

Gambia sacks and arrests six army, police chiefs

Wed Mar 3, 2010 5:23pm GMT
BANJUL (Reuters) - Gambia has sacked and detained six top police and army officials in the latest wave of arrests targeting security bodies in the West African state.
The arrests included those of Inspector General of Police Ensa Badjie and Commander of the Navy Sarjo Fofona. Authorities declined to comment further on the arrests, announced late on Tuesday. One security source cited only "security reasons".
Lang Tombong Tamba, former Chief of Defence Staff, and four other senior security officials were arrested last November and are still being detained without trial. Deputy Chief of Defence Yankuba Drammeh was sacked last week.
Gambia, which extends along the river of the same name and is sandwiched between northern and southern Senegal, has been a rare example of stability in Western Africa.
President Yahya Jammeh came to power in a bloodless coup in 1994 and has rejected regular concerns about human rights abuses since.
