Here are my feelings, Ill lay them on the line, tho Im sure alot of people
will disagree.
I do not like being called a celiac or hear the word celiac disease. I
prefer to call it a gluten intolerance, when I hear the word celiac used to
refer to me personally it makes me feel like a disease, not a person.
The attitude I take is that I have an allergy just like other people who
have allergies to whatever, I follow the diet very strictly and take my
condition very seriously, and feel that Im doing all I can and I pronounce
myself cured and go on from there. I have told my husband not to use the
word celiac. He has doubts about my acceptance of it but would I follow the
diet so strictly if I didn't accept it.
Now I feel this is a very personal thing and however a person copes with it
is their own personal way of coping. Everyone has their own way of handling
situations and thats just my way. At the same time, I understand anyone
else way that works for them. Janet in Maine
