The standard offset is 1 mhz.

Our repeater in Jackson, MS is 53.470 with a minus offset, and a 77 hz 
pl.

Give it a try when the band is open.

I don't know if anyone is using a plus offset on 6. I don't do a lot 
of 6 FM, and when I do, it is usually on our local repeater.
