I agree, my 2000 certainly doesn't talk to much as far as I'm concerned.
  STrictly speaking, the 480 is a little more accessible, but the 2000 is 
certainly usable and if you want 144 and 440, it is a good choice.  I 
own both radios.
I'd rather have something "talk to much" than not enough.
