As far as hf goes, jumper length isn't a problem at all.  The swr on the 
jumper is close to 1 to 1 if the tuner is working, so virtually no loss. 
Ten feet or more isn't a thing to worry about.  I used Larsen antennas for 
years on uhf and they came with a 15 foot run of rg58 for mobile installs, 
worked fine.  I don't like rg8 for jumpers as it is too hard to flex, I 
like either 8x or even 258, at the lengths and frequencies we're talking 
about, loss is very very small.

The first antenna I put up when I got my general way back in 1968 was made 
out of zip cord and a small metal box with an so 239 and insolated 
terminals for the wire.  I fed it with 70 feet or so of rg58.  My rig at 
the time was an hw 12 and it kicked butt on 75.

I bought an ldg tuner for the icom 718 I won a couple months ago, and I 
have to replace or fix the jumper they included, one pl259 on it is 
intermitant.
