Expanding upon Ana's excellent response:

If you visit something that requires Flash and you either don't have it or 
you have an outdated version, more than likely you will be told that.  
After all, sites wish you to properly display or play their content and 
you are not normally expected to jump through hoops to get at it.
Not only will you be told that, but a link will also be there directing 
you to get it.  

Flash is so common today that it would hardly be possible not to have it 
on a pc especially if you play a lot of audio content such as radio 
station streams.
