How ironic ~ I had a shoulder replacement in December.
I had the same experience, taking all my own food. The hosp.
menu was actually frightening! As with your husband, the staff
was blown away with how well I was doing.

I know, my doc NEVER asks about what I eat.
My husband was in the hospital in Dec. The food they served him was
pathetic.
I brought most of his food for the few days he was there. And THEY never
asked
what he ate!!....just marvelled at how healthy he was and how quick his
recovery was
(mytral valve repair).
