Undoubtedly true, but I've often dreamed of not having to work, and being able to take off for hours at a time going basically nowhere in particular. Elite athletes are driven by much more than pure enjoyment of a sport, but I think they have to *really* love the sport to begin with. That's all I was saying.



Maybe I misread or misinterpreted your question, but "Why does Lance ride?" doesn't really seem biased  toward "diet" per se.



Regarding my other points about diet - I'm going to drop them after this - it's just that I read so many absolutist statements on forums and message boards, and see so little critical thinking exercised, it just drives me nuts.
