In fact, I was over the limit with a 7.1 which puts me into the diabetes 2 category so that part is good, not being in category 1 that is. However, today I went and talked with our born again doctor, we used to go to the same church, and he strongly recommended I go on an oral medication to help bring my numbers back down. Fortunately, this medication won't effect my blood sugar going too low so I don't have to worry about that but a low carb diet and regular exercising is also a big part of keeping the numbers in the normal range. I tried talking him out of it but he said, at my age, and having this problem for the last few years, he said I would find it more and more difficult to try and keep my numbers where they belong regardless of diet and exercise. So, at the very least, he said, I'll go in every three months to see if the medication is helping lower the blood sugar levels back into the normal range of 5 to 7 instead of the 7.1 I'm at right now. Yes, getting my weight down considerably, and watching my diet by following the low carb style of eating means I could go off the oral medication in the near future. I'm thankful I don't have to use insulin; that's for sure.
