Thanks to everyone who responded.  My first question was where to go for a
gluten free dessert for my daughter's wedding. I decided to make one at
home. Second questions was about

Thanksgiving.  Because of the wedding and a new baby in the family we were
thinking about going out to eat but have decided not to.  We will have
Thanksgiving at my house and try to keep it simple.Below is the

responses.  Thank you to everyone that responded.  I now have a great list of
new places to try.

I live in the Westfield and have gotten flourless chocolate cakes from Bovella's
bakery in Westfield. There are some restaurants in Westfield that are very
accommodating to Celiac Disease.
If you are thinking of a more traditional cake or cupcakes, a friend owns
Gigi's cupcakes in Scotch Plains and may be able / willing to make something
gluten-free. There web address is www.gigiscupcakes.com

My one cent's worth - for my son's wedding, I baked myself a GF cake and had
their baker decorate it in the same style as the wedding cake.

Bellmore isn't that far out on Long Island. The bakery may be the answer to your
cake needs.
On, another thought...what about googling the baker that did the cake for
Chelsea Clinton's gf wedding? It was in the news. I think they're in Manhattan.
Pasta Pomodoro's in Voorhees, NJ gets gluten-free desserts for the restaurant. I
don't know who bakes them for him. They may be storebought and fancied up by
Pasquale Masters, co-owner/head chef. You can reach them at
www.pastapomodoronj.com. He may be able to tell you where he gets them. The

partner who has celiac is Skip or Lee, I can never remember.

New Jersey is still pretty large, so you might want to narrow down the
area a little bit, but if you're in South Jersey, DiBartolo's is the way
to go. They have excellent GF cakes, and their wedding cakes are
stunning! (They are located in Collingswood, NJ.)
Re eating out on Thanksgiving, I'm totally with you. I can handle 99.9%
of public occasions -- with grace, even -- but I can't even imagine
trying to navigate Thanksgiving dinner outside my own home. If making it
yourself if out of the question, I'd -definitely- go with the deli!
(Maybe you could just make the stuffing.)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wegman's they have a gluten free turkey         Wegmans Signature Honey-Brined
Split Turkey Breast and other fixings.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Authentic Foods:
I do produce a Vanilla Bean Cake Mix that is excellent for a wedding cake.
It is packed for retail and Food Service.

I have a 5 year old daughter with Celiac and we love the cupcakes at Sugar Flake
bakeshop. They also make brownies and cookies.  Not sure if they do cakes.
There is one bakery in Westwood and the other in Fairlawn, NJ.

Have you ever gone to Fallon's Bakery in Fords? Here's their website:
http://www.fallonsglutenfreebakeshop.com/Menu.html. I've only had their
bread, which was great. You can check out their cakes on their website. They
make custom made cakes for all occasions.
I've never eaten out for Thanksgiving. I wonder if you could request the
restaurant to not stuff the turkey. You could bring your own stuffing. I use
a recipe that someone posted. Unfortunately, I don't remember who it is, but
I do have the recipe if you'd like it. I don't know now if someone posted
the recipe or if I read it some place but it is fantastic! You could give
this stuffing to everyone and no one think they were eating anything gluten
free.

I wonder if Mr. Ritts would consider a special order. He closed up his bakery
and now sells mixes. I've never bought anything from him. He may also know of a
gf bakery in your area. He's down in Vineland. I think you once said you're in
north Jersey.
I'm sure you've already thought of this, but maybe you can get your daughter to
let you pick the restaurant in advance, and you work something out with the
chef, although you and Mom might end up with plain chicken, while the rest of
the family gets turkey. The restaurants near me in Cherry Hill are either closed
for Thanksgiving or have a restricted menu, but if you called in advance...to
make the reservation, it might work out.

I don't know where in NJ you are located, but we are in central NJ and we have a
favorite place to purchase all of my daughter's GF foods- DeLiteful Foods owned
by 2 sweet people, Ronnie and Drew. They are located on Quakerbridge Road, about
2 miles behind the mall. Their website is

In terms of dinner on Thanksgiving... we just discovered a new restaurant-
Italian- located in Hackettstown, NJ (western NJ). It's a bit of a ride from us
(an hour), but when I tell you my daughter was in Gluten Free HEAVEN! The
choices they offered were the best I've ever seen on a GF menu. I don't know
what they may be doing for Thanksgiving- but if they make turkey, I'll bet you
can convince them to make a GF variety! Their website is

I went to a wedding and the caterers were able to accomodate me and I had a
great
meal plus dessert.  I would contact the caterers directly to see.
