About a week ago I was leafing through the latest edition of Woman's Day
magazine, and was surprised to find an article, "A year without bread
and pasta," on p. 69. The story itself was interesting, as the author'
grandmother has CD. The author wasn't feeling up to par and a doc
suggested she might have an allergy, so she gave up gluten for a year.
After that year, another doc said that maybe she is "pre-celiac,"
whatever that means!

The best part of the article, however, is the sidebars. One has a list
of g-f items the author recommends. Another is called "sneaky sources of
gluten"; another called "who's avoiding gluten" tells the difference
between those allergic to wheat, those with CD, people who are prone to
celiac, and of course, people who are gluten-sensitive.

I enjoyed the article, and especially appreciate the insights she gives
into how it feels to be "different."
