I sent my first ICT-90A to Icom repair and was disappointed to say the
least, that one lost the PL tones for some reason and I sent it in, they
told me a board had gone bad and they'd have to replace the whole board,
problem is, between shipping it there, the board and return shipping, it was
going to come up to be about $25 more than the new one I bought instead. I
wish I kept the battery though and I could have, but if you don't want it
returned they don't charge the bench fee. I don't know what the cost would
be for the SMA jack or to resolder it, but I will say if something goes
wrong with my current one, I'll take it to a friend who works on commercial
radios and wait 6 months for him to get to it rather than bother with icom
repair ever again especially for an HT and most of mine are old enough now
the same can be said for all of them if I even bothered at all.
