This is a good idea.  I may have to look into one of these as well.  A 
couple things can happen, one is the current pull of the relay coil in the 
amp which could overload the current rating of ttthe transceivers
.  Also, when the power is removed from a relay coil, the collapsing field 
causes a reverse voltage which can damage components.  a way to fix this 
is wire a diode reverse across the coil so the diode shorts out the 
reverse voltage.
