Bob,

What kind of thumb drives?  Some work well with the player and others do 
not.  NLS recommends Kingston data travelers.  At first, I tried what I had 
here.  Don't recall the brand but it didn't work.  So I bought a 2-gig data 
traveler and it works perfectly. I don't think it's imperative that the 
books be in separate folders as far as the machine is concerned. It's just 
that it makes deleting a book much easier that way.  As for the cartridge 
error, I think that's just the message you'd get with any storage device, 
cartridge or thumb drive.Lou
