Hi, everyone! Just wanted to let you all know if you're planning to visit the Upper Peninsula of Michigan over the summer, which is such beautiful country, that you can eat safely there! We ate at Joey's Grill located in Houghton, MI, and it was wonderful with such attentive staff! The owner found out 3 years after he'd started this restaurant that he was allergic to fish, so he takes great care with your meals! We had two who needed gluten-free dairy-free, one with gluten-free needs and one with a regular diet. The food was fabulous, delicious and safe!!!

Harbor Haus , located in Copper Harbor, MI, was great also! I'd recommend making a reservation as it was very crowded with a long wait list, but it was worth it! Delicious, safe and courteous staff as well.

Lagniappe Cajun Creole Eatery , located in Marquette, MI, was delicious also! Who would've thought -- Cajun in the UP! But it was fun and delicious! They use corn flour for their batter, so we were able to have fried crawfish, alligator and frog legs for an appetizer. I had their Low Country Shrimp and Grits (gluten-free but not dairy-free) and it was superb with fantastic flavor. The GF/DF had Creole Grilled Mirliton Ratatouille and was fantastic as well!

At breakfasts, we ordered at Bob's Big Boy restaurants and they were able to cook our food separately from other areas on the grill (cleaned the grill for us) and we ate to our hearts' content!

So, have no fear in the U.P.! Happy traveling!

Renee' in Michigan
