Hi Nan,

How old is your PC? If it's 3 or 4 years old, it may be that the
on-board BIOS backup battery needs to be replaced.

I saw this mentioned only recently in a popular computer magazine over
here in the UK.

For the small cost involved, it may be worth replacing.

George.

Subject: [VICUG-L] Zoomtext, Bista and cold reboots

I use Zoomtext as a screen reader and magnifier on a PC equpped with
Vista.. yes, I now, it's time to upgrade to Windows 7. I have been
trying to determine if it is Zoomtext that causes regular.. at least
once a week.. freezes of what's on my monitor that I can't seem to get

out of short of just shutting off the computer without shutting down
first. Having to do this has resulted in one hard drive having so
many
bad sectors that I had to spend hundreds of dollars to figure out and
fix why my computer just shut down completely one day.

Has anyone else run into this? Most of you use JAWS I think. I am
just
not ready to give up the small amount of visual interface I have. My
husband thinks the problem I have is because of Zoomtext, that the use

of graphical resources is just too much for Vista or the computer. I
contacted AiSquared support who had me do this elaborate provess that
turned off some settings on security. Now they want me to call them
because they think there must be something wrong somewhere else. I'd
rather gather information and ideas first... can anyone offer any?

Nan Hawthorne
