Batsheva > I think the whole notion of zero carb is somewhat
contrived, in that paleo man, being hungry, would eat, forage, kill
whatever he could to subdue the belly hunger.
Thanks for your other thoughts, but I wanted to talk about this one in
particular for a second. Yes, he would eat when hungry and didn't
intellectually contrive dietary boundaries save those based on
experience and communal knowledge. (Overeating protein for instance).
But, perhaps unless you're in subtropical Africa, mankind
experienced great, long periods where no carbohydrates sources were
available, were not in season.
So zero carb is hardly contrived, it was the *norm* for most of the
year. And, it must be said, other than a hard-to-obtain and rare
honey cache, carbohydrates were nothing like the concentrated carbs we
have as choices today.
My diet is an attempt to recreate the types and classes of foods, and
their associated macronutrient profiles, that would be normal for
paleo man. I am tickled to death that it appears to be working after
a couple of semi-satisfactory attempts in the past. Fun and
interesting stuff.
