I remember the ad for one Yaesu mobile rig, I think in the early 90s,
said that it had a voice readout option. I don't recall the model
number, but, it was not a hand held, and it didn't stay around very
long.
A few Icom mobiles also had the speech option. The IC27 series from
the mid 80s is the one which comes to mind. I never owned one, but I
think all you got from the speech was the operating frequency.
If anyone ever sold an HT with any voice feedback before the Wouxun,
or the Puxing single band units that have occasionally been mentioned
on this list, that radio was the best kept secret on the planet.
