It was an expensive option back in the day.   There is a large compartment 
on the rear, almost the whole width of the radio, where the cover would be 
removed and the unit installed.  If it were there you would see it and 
probably an antenna jack or whip antenna for VHF.

The one round thing above the ac plug is to change voltage  for  differing 
country standards.   The one in the upper left of the rear  is a DIN 
accessory jack   for doing things  like muting the rx if connected to a 
transmitter and  stuff like that.
