The NLS player will find digital talking books in any folder, including the
root folder, of a drive. The names of the folders are not significant. By
nesting certain kinds of books into folders, you could achieve a certain
amount of grouping of your books on the bookshelf. The folder called
"audio+podcasts" is reserved for audio files if there are also NLS or Daisy
books on the same drive. If a drive does not contain NLS or Daisy books,
the whole drive is searched for audio files.

The NLS player does not contain a text-to-speech synthesizer. RFB&D books
can be played if you install an authorization key from RFB&D. Such keys are
free nowadays.

Software version 2.1.4 fixes an issue where, if the user had the volume set
to minimum and used the sleep timer function, it would reboot and start
playing at a louder volume when the timer expired. When we post new
software, it can be found at
  http://www.loc.gov/nls/DTBM
, and there is also a link to software upgrades from the NLS BARD websites.
